Abstract

As data science in pharma becomes increasingly collaborative, building siloed environments for different user groups no longer meets the needs of modern teams. This presentation will share the Novartis vision of designing and implementing a single scientific computing environment (SCE) that supports a wide range of users, from imaging scientists to statistical programmers. We will highlight the importance of the right team and methodologies to deliver this modern, unified SCE. This transformation is especially urgent now: growing volumes and complexity of data, accelerated timelines, and the rising importance of open science demand platforms that are scalable, interoperable and inclusive. Fragmented tooling hinders reproducibility, auditability and collaboration – problems that become more acute as we move towards regulatory environments that increasingly expect transparency and automation. A unified SCE tackles these challenges head-on, offering shared infrastructure, harmonised tooling, and streamlined governance. Crucially, it lays the groundwork for strategic shifts ahead, including the adoption of open-source tooling.
